Filled with history, marvelous architecture and awash in natural beauty, Cambodia is fast becoming a must see destination in Southeast Asia. The largest religious monument ever built, Angkor Wat, ranks at the top of globetrotting VIPs’ must see lists.  After a lengthy period of internal strife and civil war (which curtailed travel to Cambodia for the better part of three decades) the establishment of peace has spurred a rise in tourism.  This has been aided by a boom in hotel construction in the town of Siem Reap, located just a few miles from Angkor Wat. This four day trip will take you to discover all the wonder of Angkor and experience the best that Cambodia has to offer.

Day 1: Arrive in Seam Reap (D)

After being met at Siem Reap Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel and have free time.  Then you will enjoy a welcome dinner, as you watch a traditional Khmer dance show before an overnight stay in Siem Reap.

Day 2: Angkor Tour (B/L)

Today you will visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12 Century), including: the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the Ocean of Milk), the Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Then you will have lunch at a local restaurant

In the afternoon, you will visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th Century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classic Khmer art and architecture. You’ll stay overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 3: Angkor Tour (B/L)

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will visit Ta Prohm, one of the area’s most beautiful temples. Ta Prohm has been relatively untouched since it was discovered, and it retains much of its mystery. Your next stops will be: Neak Pean, (a fountain built in the middle of a pool and representing the paradisical Himalayan mountain-lake), Ta Som (built in the late 12th Century) and Preah Khan Temple. Built by King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is (like Ta Prohm) a place of towering enclosures and shoulder hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however, the temple of Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should improve its appearance.

In the afternoon, you will view the unique interior brick sculptures of Prasat Kravan, Srah Srang ("The Royal Baths", once used for ritual bathing), Banteay Kdei (surrounded by 4 concentric walls) and Ta Keo (constructed in late 10th to early 11th Centuries), which is the first temple to be constructed wholly of sandstone. You’ll then stay overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 4: Departure (B)

There is no activity planned for today, so you will have free time for souvenir shopping until you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
