Ho Chi Minh City – Chau Doc – Can Tho- Soc Trang - Vinh Long – Cu Chi Tunnels - Ho Chi Minh City

The five days on the complex maze of the Mekong Delta is adventurous enough for some people, but this tour gives a taste of life on the Mekong River and its tributaries. The tour begins in Ho Chi Minh City and from here we drive to Cai Be in the heart of the Mekong Delta. Here we board our boat enabling us to view this amazing area much as the locals do. Gliding on the bustling waterways we shop at floating markets, eat tropical fruits in lush orchards, discover the art of Bonsai growing and have tea in a typical boathouse.

Day 1: HCMC- Chau Doc

Pick up at your hotel in Saigon, we drive to Chau Doc with visit and stop along the way. This evening we will stay Mekong River. Overnight: VICTORIA CHAU DOC HOTEL. ( lunch included) River View Room

Day 2: Chau Doc - Can Tho

We will have a boat trip to the floating market and also visit a bonsai garden. Following this, we visit the Lady Xu temple and Sam Mountain, which affords magnificent panoramic views as far as the Cambodian border. We continue our way further down to Can Tho where we are staying over night. (Breakfast, lunch included)

Day 3: Can Tho - Soc Trang - Can Tho

An early morning start today as we travel by boat to the Cai Rang floating market, complete with its many fully-laden boats selling fresh, local produce. We then drive to Phung Hiep floating market where seven tributaries of the Mekong River converge, before heading out to Soc Trang. Here we explore the Clay pagoda and Bat pagoda. This evening we stay at the splendid Victoria hotel. (Breakfast, lunch included)

Overnight: VICTORIA CAN THO HOTEL.

Day 4: Can Tho - Vinh Long (Homestay)

This morning we set off for a drive through the Mekong Delta to Vinh Long. Here we will board our private boat for a cruise along the maze of waterways and canals of Vinh Long. We will stop at the home of a Bonsai gardener for a sumptuous Delta lunch, before continuing our exploration of the tributaries and canals. Toward the end of the day we arrive at the home of a local family whose house is built on stilts over the water. These people will be our hosts for the evening and will share tales with us of life in the delta. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included) Overnight: Homestay.

Day 5: Vinh Long - Cu Chi Tunnels - HCMC

Rising early to the sounds of the delta coming to life for another day, we have breakfast and then board our riverboats once more for a cruise to the wonderful Cai Be floating market. We'll stop along the way to visit some local cottage industries. Following these visits we will travel by road to the town of My Tho, where we will visit Dong Tam snake farm. We then continue on to the Cu Chi tunnels for a unique experience and feel of what underground life during the U.S.-Vietnam War must have been like. Later we drive back to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City (Breakfast and lunch included).
