Bagan is well known as the city of thousands of pagodas and one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia. It is in Central Myanmar and located on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River.

Bagan is Myanmar's very first Kingdom founded in the 11th century by King Anawrahta. This enchanting ancient city is full of cultural heritage and historical monuments and sites. The majority of well-preserved pagodas and temples offer a rich architectural heritage from the 11th to 13th centuries.

It takes about one hour and twenty minutes to fly from Yangon to Bagan - Nyaung Oo and daily flights to Bagan from Yangon, Mandalay are available. By over-land, regular buses and trains from Yangon and Mandalay to Bagan and also regular boats between Mandalay and Bagan.

Inside the Old Bagan City, precisely at the South West corner, Bagan Thande Hotel sits on the edge of the Eastern bank of great Ayeyawaddy river and near one of the sacred stupa, Gawdaw-palin and next to Bagan Archaeological Museum.

Hence, Ayeyawaddy river & sunset panoramic view is gifted not creative for Bagan Thande Hotel and very short distance from most of the sightseeing points.

Accommodation

Bagan Thande Hotel is one of the best hotels in Ancient Bagan City area with the most reasonable prices. One main building (two storey building) and twenty-four chalet type bungalows are at your disposal. This two storey building was built in 1922, for the then Prince of Wales of Britain when he visited Bagan.

It's the only and prominent colonial era building in Ancient Bagan City. (3) Suite rooms, (44) Deluxe rooms, (20) Superior rooms, and (4) Economy rooms are our accommodation strength and all rooms are spacious and furnished meticulously with teakwood, fine fabrics and traditional handcrafts, come equipped with modern amenities.One Suite Room & Deluxe type rooms are over looking the Ayeyawaddy River and the rest are facing pagodas, birds' sanctuary garden and swimming pool.

Rooms and bathrooms of Deluxe type are more spacious than Superior type with bathtub, separate head shower, satellite T.V, mini bar, air-conditioner, telephone and hair dryer. Every Deluxe room is installed with large glass window with spectacular view. Interior decoration and all furnitures are traditional style, 100% teak wood and all are handmade.

Room facilities at Superior type are the same as Deluxe except no having of separate head shower and Economy rooms also has satellite T.V, mini bar, telephone, air-conditioner except bathroom has headshower only. All rooms are fitted with twin bed and attached bathroom with hot and cold shower, verandah sitting areas are attached to each chalet.

The grandest room of all is our River Side Thande Suite, spacious bedroom with extra large bed & bathroom installed with large glass window, spacious sitting room also install with large glass window, with separate bathroom & private bar.Panoramic river & mountain view is in front of this River Side Thande Suite.

Bagan Thande Hotel is located at the south-west corner of the ancient walls of Old Bagan City and on the eastern bank of the River Ayeyarwady and also situated inside Bagan Archaeological Zone. Bagan archaeological museum is in the east side of the hotel and in the west side is the superb Ayeyarwady River.

It is 6.4 km far from Nyaung Oo, 4 km from New Bagan, 10 km from airport, 16 km from railway station, and 1.5 km from jetty. Several well-known Buddhist Monuments are within walking distances from our hotel.
