Outline itinerary:
Day 1: Bangkok arrival & Bangkok city tour
Day 2: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Day 3: River Kwai & Tiger Temple
Day 4: Bangkok – Departure
Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok
Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in a private air conditioned vehicle for check in at your hotel.
You will start your tour by visiting the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaeo). Before entering the main gate to the temple, you can stop by the Royal Regalia Museum to see the beauty of its decorative jewelry, which belonged to royal officers and consorts. Next, you will visit the most sacred Buddha statue in Thailand, held by all Thais as their symbol of national independence. You will enjoy viewing the stunning buildings, and you will see something photo worthy every time you turn around.
You will continue exploring Wat Pho (the Reclining Buddha Temple), which is the oldest and biggest temple in Thailand and home to the largest number of pagodas in the country (95 in all).
In the afternoon, you’ll take a long-tailed boat along the Chao Phraya River to witness the Thai lifestyle and notice the contrast between luxurious condominiums and ruined houses along both sides of the canal. You will disembark at Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn) to visit the tallest prang in Thailand. The central prang symbolizes Mount Meru from Indian cosmology and is considered to be the center of the universe according to Buddhist teachings. You’ll then have an overnight stay in Bangkok.
Day 2: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market (B, L)
After breakfast, you will drive to visit the most colorful of Thailand's floating markets, Damnoen Saduak, located in Ratchaburi Province, which is about 104 km southwest of Bangkok. On the way, you’ll stop by the sea salt farms to see how sea water becomes salt. Upon arrival, you will take a private long-tailed boat to navigate your way through the floating market along the canals. The canal twists and turns around a plantation surrounded by greenery and you will have a chance to view native life along the canal banks and at the market, where boats of various shapes and sizes carry goods including tropical fruits, vegetables, flowers and local food.
In the afternoon you will return to hotel for leisure time before retiring for the evening in Bangkok.
Day 3: River Kwai & Tiger Temple (B, L)
Today you will enjoy a fascinating and memorable trip to scenic Kanchanaburi, a province of startling natural beauty, rugged landscapes, waterfalls, caves, leafy forests and awe-inspiring limestone cliffs. You will visit the bridge near the beginning of the “Death Railway”, which is a poignant reminder of the thousands of POW's and forced laborers who lost their lives in the Second World War during the construction of the railway. Afterwards, you will enjoy a scenic long-tail boat trip along Maeklong River to the famous “Bridge over the River Kwai”. You will continue to Pakseng for lunch at a local restaurant and then board the local train for the thrilling ride across wooden viaducts, which offer fantastic scenery along the Kwai River.
Next you will visit Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua (also known as Tiger Temple). The Tiger Temple is a rescue centre for wild animals and the home of wild tigers, pigs, deer, antelopes, water buffalo, apes and a hand full other animals. You will then drive back to Bangkok and have dinner at a place of your choosing as you are free to explore on your own.
Day 4: Bangkok – Departure (B)
There are no activities planned for today so you will have free time until transfer to Suvarnabhumi International Airport for your onward flight and the end of your memorable tour.
