Amaryllis Resort

Amaryllis Resort is located 5 minutes away of the city of Phan Thiet . It is well-known for its authenticity with the turquoise blue of the South China Sea. The philosophy of the resort is to spend time on the terraces immersed within a second ocean: the ocean of the coconut tree. Of these terraces, the view is impressive and comforting. This is the ideal place to relax and to sunbath.

The region of Phan Thiet is embedded in the heart of the province Binh Thuan. The landscape offers an incredible view of which it is difficult to detach.

In 1911, the French duke “de Montpensier” – who fell in love with the marvellous landscape – built a castle dominating the heights of the region. Today, the relict contrasts the towers of Poshanu – witnesses of the ancestral culture of Cham.

Resort has a total of 51 rooms . Every room are evenly spread on 4 buildings, resulting most of the rooms have sea-view . All rooms had been designed in an authentic and comfortable style. They are all extended by a private terrace or balcony , convenient for sunbathing.

Why Amaryllis?

The cultural Vietnamese tradition gives much importance to flowers, as it can be observed in the choice of female names. The anecdote to which we relate goes back to the great King Ly Thanh Tong (1022-1072; crowned in 1054), from the Ly dynasty. The King had chosen as imperial concubine Y Lan, later known as Linh Nhan Hoang Hau.

Here the story of Y Lan: despite having selected twelve concubines, the King Ly Than Tong suffered the absence of a male heir. In 1063, he decided to go to the Thánh Chúa pagoda, begging the Gods to give him a male heir.

When the royal procession arrived at the village of Siêu Tho?i (B?c Ninh Province), the king was welcomed by jubilating villagers.

He then noticed a young peasant girl of an extraordinary beauty, who, leaning back on an amaryllis hedge, was picking mulberry leaves, while observing shyly the King from a distance.

Willing to know her, he asked her to approach him. Awestruck by her beauty and intelligence, the King asked to marry her and granted her the name of Y Lan ( ?-1127), meaning "to lean back on an amaryllis hedge."

In 1066, Y Lan gave a son to the king, Can Duc, later the king Ly Nhan Tong.

Y Lan became one of the greatest queens in the history of Vietnam, applying many social policies in favor of the disadvantaged and the women. It is with the King Ly Than Tong and his concubine Y Lan that Vietnam found again peace and prosperity, a fact even more exceptional when considering the rarity in these times for having leaders able to use virtue and wisdom for the sake of this legendary country. Amaryllis Resort draws one's inspiration from the Queen of flowers palace...
